Dear colleagues,
I registered to provide a public comment during the June 8-9 Board meeting; public comment is listed as item XII on the agenda, Board of Regents Meeting Notice, June 8-9, 2023. I was not able to attend in person, but I received written confirmation from Desiree Jacobsen, Director of Board Operations and Executive Assistant to the Board of Regents, that my comment was provided to the Board Chair, Marty Dickinson (PDF), who would read my comment during the public comment portion of the meeting.
For reasons still not entirely clear, my comment was not read at the meeting. To my knowledge, there were no other public comments provided at the board meeting.
The comment that I registered to provide is included with this contextual statement.
It has been a pleasure working with many of you on these and other issues over the past several years. As noted in my written statement, my intent was to seek concrete steps and action items that I could report back to my constituents for addressing the issues outlined. Although my second term on the senate ends this August, I hope to continue this work with you all to build a better, stronger WSU.
