March 30, 2017

The Faculty Senate was called to order by A.G. Rud, Chair on Thursday March 30, 2017, in FSHN T101 at 3:30 p.m. forty-five (45) members were present with twelve (12) absent and eight (8) nonvoting members present.

Minutes of March 9 2017 meeting were approved as circulated.

  1. Announcements (Information items).
    1. Information Items.
      1. Minor Change Bulletin #10 (Exhibit B)
      2. The Graduate Studies Committee has approved updated Bylaws for the Experimental Psychology Program which are available on the department’s website
      3. The Graduate Studies Committee has approved updated Bylaws for the Department of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology (NEP) which are available on the department’s website
      4. Faculty Senate Officers met with President Schulz on March 20 2017
      5. Faculty Senate Officers met with Provost on March 21 2017
      6. The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine has newly ratified Bylaws which are available on the college’s website
      7. The Office of Research Support & Operations (ORA) has broadened the charter to include other compliance committees within ORA to address the IRB and processing human subjects application forms for our faculty
      8. The Faculty Affairs Committee has approved the edits to the Faculty Manual in Section IV F3 (Exhibit CCC, CCC1, CCC2)

      1. Since we have a full agenda, please read the Information Items.
        Amy Nielson has been elected Executive Secretary for a 3 year term
        No candidate for Chair-elect received a clear majority, so we will send a ballot after the meeting. Please vote for Brendan Walker or Jeannette Mageo before April 11. We had 75% participation and would like 100% next time! After our last meeting, April 13, we will host a reception at Birch and Barley. May 15 th President will host a barbecue. Please reply when the invitations come. Tomorrow is Showcase from 9-12. Please attend if you can.
