  6. Constituents’ Concerns.
    1. A concern was raised on the proposed new online course evaluations for students. The instructor will be provided the names of the students who complete the evaluation and instructors are encouraged to offer incentive – including extra credit. The first is a concern for confidentiality of the students’ feedback and many questions tying completing the evaluation to the student’s grade. It was noted the chair advised this will be reviewed over the summer and
will provide a follow up next Fall.
    2. A concern via email was raised on the following:
      1. Presently in the Faculty Manual, in cases of nonreappointment, tenure, promotion, and termination for reason of program discontinuance or financial exigency), faculty have thirty (30) calendar days after notification of non-reappointment by the provost to petition the FSC to
        review decisions (pp. 45, 47, 57, & 68).
    3. Constituents request that the Faculty Manual be changed from ” thirty (30) calendar days” to “thirty (30) business days,” so that faculty have thirty (30) business days to petition the FSC to review decisions regarding nonreappointment, tenure, promotion, and termination for reason of program discontinuance or financial exigency.
      1. Presently at WSU, benefits in domestic partnerships are treated differently than in marital partnerships. Employee health premiums of domestic partners are treated as taxable income (unless apparently the partner is a dependent), whereas they are not taxable for married couples. Constituents request that benefits in domestic partnerships be the same as in marital partnerships. It was noted the Executive officers will follow up on these concerns.
    4. Speaker Cary Nelson will be presenting to faculty on May 1st on May 2nd
  7. Adjournment.
    1. The meeting adjourned at 4:33 p.m.
      1. Sheila Converse, Executive Secretary
