March Faculty Senate Chair Blog

I hope you all had a great spring break last week. A few updates and reminders from Faculty Senate:

1.      A few weeks ago, Exec asked Vice Provost of Enrollment Management Saichi Oba and Director of Admissions Andrew Brewick to update the Senate on efforts and progress toward addressing enrollment issues. Their response can be found here. I am grateful for the thought and work that they are expending on WSU’s behalf.

2.      There were a few questions that VP for Finance and Administration Leslie Brunelli did not have time to answer at her presentation to the Faculty Senate on 2/29. She has graciously provided written answers to them, the text can be found here.

3.      There have been numerous concerns raised on the Faculty Senate Forum about comparisons between WSU and other institutions regarding a variety of issues, including enrollment, administrative personnel, etc. A reminder that this is the sort of thing our office of Institutional Research addresses, and that the Director of that office, Stephanie Kane, will be presenting and answering questions at the next Faculty Senate meeting on March 21.

4.      Finally, a reminder that members of the WSU Board of Regents are conducting listening sessions this week and next. The schedule and other information can be found here. I urge you to attend if possible or to submit comments and concerns via an anonymous web form linked here if you cannot.
