The Faculty Senate met on Thursday, December 7, 2023, in French 130D and via Zoom. Sixty (60) senators were present with thirty (30) absent and twenty-five (25) non-voting members present. The meeting was called to order by the Senate Chair, Eric Shelden at 4:01 pm.

    1. Concern: Policy review request concern regarding the temporary employment program. -C. Moore
      1. Response: BPPM 60.26 is a published policy on the university webpage and is not a private document. -E. Shelden
      2. Response: The edit to BPPM is to update the state policy that students become overtime eligible under the new Fair Labor Standards Act. -J. McDonald  
      3. Concern: How does this policy impact WSU’s ability to replace striking workers -P. Skilton
    2. Concern: Request for more clarity on how funding distributions will play out and next steps re: the response from the 2024 Carryforward Fund faculty forum. What are thoughts from other faculty on this topic. -A. Jayakaran
      1. Response: Eric Shelden will be following up with Leslie Brunelli re: the funding distribution model and access to carryforward funds in FY24.
