International Affairs Committee

Composition

  • Eight (8) Preference for appointment will be given to faculty members who have experience in curricular or program development and/or delivery, or members that have experience in teaching, administration, or research in or with international institutions or programs (the committee will seek to have broad representation of these international experiences among the membership). (F)
  • The following will serve as ex-officio (non-voting) members: 1) the Vice President of International Programs or their designee, 2) the Chancellor of Global Campus or their designee, 3) a representative of the Graduate and Professional Student Association with international experience, and 4) a member of the Academic Affairs committee, the Research & Arts committee, and the Graduate Studies committee.

Function

  • Advisory Role to the Provost’s Office, Faculty Senate, and Academic Units: Advise the Provost’s Office and relevant academic units on the development and review of WSU international degrees, courses, and programs. Review proposed international agreements or MOUs that involve degrees or courses.
  • Liaison to the Office of International Programs: Serve as the Faculty Senate liaison to the Office of International Programs (or equivalent unit) for curricular and academic policy matters related to international programs and initiatives. Facilitate communication between the Office of International Programs, the Faculty Senate, and academic units to ensure coordination and clarity in international academic affairs. Inform Faculty Senate about activities through the Steering Committee.
  • Advocacy for University Internationalization: Advocate for the continued internationalization of Washington State University. Conduct periodic reviews of WSU’s administrative arrangements, policies, and procedures governing the conduct of international programs and activities, making recommendations for improvement as appropriate.

  • Reports to: Faculty Senate and the president, through the provost and executive vice president.
