Forum Post
University leadership needs to take a more active role in attracting students, faculty and staff to Pullman by engaging Pullman leadership directly to stem the hemorrhaging that is occurring. As an example, property taxes are going to be increased substantially in many, if not all neighborhoods in Pullman. For example, several of my colleagues are expecting increases of $600-$1000 per MONTH!
This is unsustainable if WSU is attempting to attract people to live and work here. It’s already a very expensive area to live in. We need (demand?) WSU leadership to step in and attempt to mitigate some of these potentially devastating impacts on the community. We’re certainly not going to see substantial increases in salaries. So, PLEASE do more to support your constituents or they will leave; scratch that – they will leave in even greater numbers. The town and the University community are dying.
