Increasing ASE’s teaching load will decrease retention

Forum Post

ASE’s increased teaching load and with an average of 20 hours per week, will decrease the pass rate in math lower level courses, resulting in lower retention. If TA’s don’t have time to finish grading assignments, take attendance, post notes on Canvas for those who miss classes, etc., fewer students will pass the courses. Take one student who does not pass trigonometry or a business calculus course that then drops out of WSU. WSU looses the tuition for that student for possibly 3 years.

  1. The Senate has been contacted regarding this concern in the past by a different party and we have forwarded this concern to Chancellor Cillay requesting a response.
