DESCRIPTION:Faculty\, staff\, and graduate students who teach are invited to workshop classroom teaching ideas ahead of the National Day of Racial Healing. \n“We are inviting anyone with a teaching role at WSU to share and learn how to incorporate racial healing into course content and pedagogy\, no matter the focus of the course\,” said Kersten Bergstrom\, Lecturer in the School of Biological Sciences on the Tri-Cities campus. \n \nBergstrom\, along with other faculty and staff\, are organizing WSU’s first annual National Day of Racial Healing to take place system-wide on Tuesday\, January 17\, 2023. \nThe system-wide Racial Healing for the Classroom workshop will take place via Zoom from 11am-12:30pm on Tuesday\, January 10\, and is designed to prepare teachers to engage students in conversation about racial healing\, no matter the disciplinary focus of their courses. \n“The workshop is intended as a brainstorming session for teachers who are both experienced and new to teaching about this important subject\, and a chance to share best practices\,” said Clif Stratton\, Bergstrom’s co-leader of the workshop. \nInterested faculty\, staff\, and graduate students are asked to register for the workshop here. \n“Anyone currently participating in WSU’s L.I.F.T. Faculty Fellowship can count this workshop toward their pedagogical training requirement\,” said Erika Offerdahl\, Director of the Transformational Change Initiative.
