Financial Support for Senate Leadership

Salary buyouts support the work done by the Senate Executive Committee.

From the Provost:

  • The chair-elect will be funded at 25% of their academic salary with a funding cap of $40,000.
  • The chair will be funded at 50% of their academic salary with a funding cap of $80,000.
  • The executive secretary will be funded at 50% of their academic salary with a funding cap of $80,000.

Process:

Faculty duties and summer salary are negotiated between the executive committee member and their chair or director. Once an agreement is reached, a memo detailing this agreement is sent from the chair or director to the faculty member’s dean or chancellor. Once that memo is approved, the provost’s office or president’s office will disburse funds to the college or campus and from there, to the faculty member’s school or department. If during the course of appointment, a dispute occurs between the faculty member and their chair or director, the dean or chancellor will mediate.
