University Committees

University Committees serve functions which affect the entire university and are not part of the Faculty Senate structure. Each committee reports to a designated administrator, as indicated.

Nominations for membership are submitted to the designated administrator from the Faculty Senate, Administrative Professional Advisory Council, Washington Federation of State Employees (Council No. 28, Bargaining Units 2 and 3), Graduate and Professional Student Association, Associated Students of Washington State University, and others, as indicated in the composition of each committee, except for the following committees: Counciling and Student Health Advisory Committee, Facility Use, Historic Preservation, Intellectual Property, Land Use, University Scholarship Advisory Committe.

The official year for appointments on University Committees is August 16 through August 15 of the following year. Terms of members are staggered as indicated.

Chairs of the University Committees, other than those designated as ex officio or as being appointed by a designated administrator, are elected annually in the spring semester by the committee from among those whose terms continue throughout the following year, unless exceptions are noted in the committee description. Results are reported to the appropriate administrator on or before Commencement Day.

Whenever possible, committee meetings are scheduled in facilities which are accessible to handicapped individuals.
